XLoader automatically detects which port our Arduino is connected to but we need to make sure that we have the correct Arduino set in.

I checked on my apparently identical Woodpecker board. Next step is to completely redesign and rebuild the X gantry and Z axis for less overhang, much better stiffness, and longer Z travel. I did look at the one you linked, and a few similar, but I expect to make it much more compact and easier to mount (on the controller plug, actually). I plan to build my own PWM-to-10V converter, though. It's quiet and well balanced I chose it partly because it has an ER16 collet chuck and I already have a complete set of metric and imperial ER16 and E16 collets. I''d be very interested to hear how you get on.Ĭoincidentally, I'm in the middle of making a similar conversion, using this 500W spindle.

If you need more details, let me know but $12 for software spindle control of 300 or 500W upgraded spindle is nice.ĮDIT: I found the schematic for the woodpecker board above, the 24V "PWM" output is indeed filtered with a lowpass filter - ergo, the output aint PWM anymore - thats why it didnt work. I believe the 0-24V PWM control on the spindle outlet has to be filtered or something and the board cant see the PWM frequency. Just posting this here in case someone else wants to get rid of crappy pot speed control and do it in software. 24V feeding converter from power supply, laser PWM wired appropriately, set 1000 spindle speed to be 10.0V and everything controls the spindle speed controller 0-10V speed input perfectly. Pinned a cable - measured/verfied which one was grnd and PWM (other is 12V, dont need, verified because some of the labels on the board are reversed - i.e. Thought about tapping the pin directly from the board for spindle control then looked at the unused laser output on my board. Looked into GRBL firmware a bit more and see that indeed, it should be 1MHz so it should work. So tried low pass filtering PWM and voltage divider and a bunch of other (now) stupid shit to get it work.

Well that will not work.ĭont have scope, but figured that the module PWM frequency doesnt match the pro board. However, from 100-1000 spindle speed, outlet stayed at 10V. Using this converter board: HERE)Īt zero spindle - outlet of converter module zero volts. PWM speed according to GRBL (1.1) is 1MHz. Started off using PWM spindle outlet (24V to spindle). Ive spent hours trying to figure this out.
